On Wednesday ANRF will be interviewing Dr. Christine Beeton for Arthritis Now, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Beeton’s autoimmune research has yielded the development of a new drug, ShK-186, which targets autoimmune diseases without broadly suppressing the immune system. A successful phase of the drug was conducted in March 2013 and the beginning of 2014, with another to follow soon.

Results from these phases has shown that ShK-186 is showing strong potential to treat a myriad of autoimmune diseases, such as psoriatic arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The drug was originally derived from a Caribbean sun anemone.

What are you questions about this exciting research? Comment below to ask Dr. Beeton anything related to her work for a chance to have it asked on the show!
